Slack Block Kit

Block Kit redefined how developers build Slack apps by providing a robust UI component system. As lead designer, I created a comprehensive set of UI primitives that balanced flexibility for developers with consistency for end users. The system needed to be powerful enough for complex apps while remaining approachable for developers new to the Slack platform. One of our key challenges was ensuring each component would render consistently across web, iOS, and Android platforms, maintaining Slack's core experience regardless of where users encountered these third-party apps. The framework became the foundation for all third-party app development in Slack.
